CASTING CALL - Student Short Film - July 16-17

Event Description

Sam a doctor in his 50’s, wants peace with God and a deep connection with his family, but because of his grief after his wife dies, he isolates and pushes people away… until, he discovers that his grand daughter needs him more than he realized, and then finds the connection and self respect he is looking for.

 

 

 

LEAD: SAM  - 40-50’s Male.  VERY STRONG ACTOR  Needs to have multiple layers of emotion.  He’s a normal guy, but has a strange “gift”.  He sees people’s futures when he comes in physical contact with them.  Handsome, yet worn out.  Doctor and family man turns synical and turns against God and himself when his wife dies.    Think Harrison Ford or a VERY nice version of House. 

 

LEAD : HANNAH – Female 10-13  VERY STRONG ACTRESS. .   Sam’s Grand daughter.   Ideal actress can cry and have multiple layers of emotion. She also has the “gift” that Sam has, but is confused about it.  Mysterious, yet normal 10 year old girl.   Struggles with her grandma’s death, but tries to be strong for her mom and grandpa.  She tries too hard to fix everything, instead of just being a kid.

PRINCIPLE: JESSICA –strong actress pretty, 30’s.  Nurse.  Sam’s daughter/Hannah’s mom.  Detached, yet tries to be a good mom.  Very angry with her dad, yet she is the carbon copy of him in almost every way.

SUPPORTING: LINDA- pretty, strong, doctor.  Never been married.

SUPPORTING: PARAMEDICS, 2 – 20-60 any race and gender. 

FEATURED:  Heart Attack Man – Good actor, no lines, but has a heart attack and is very crucial to the plot, and the arc of the story.

FEATURED: Liquor store manager Hippy, nutty, yet wise in a stoned kind of way

FEATURED: 3 guys in ski masks – male, any age  any gender.

FEATURED: CLOWN – 18 or older.  Any race any gender.

FEATURED EXTRAS:  Zoo workers, concessions stand workers, etc

EXTRAS – kids and adults to be in a zoo scene.

VOICEOVER: News guy on radio or woman – me or someone else

SARAH (for Pics) – pretty blonde woman in her 40-50’s.  Even though we just need her for pictures, she is key to the plot

Hey Everyone,

 Auditions have been rescheduled for next weekend, so you have an extra week to get ready.
