Oh I almost forgot, we even posted a sign about the mixer at our Tropical Smoothie Cafe for all of our customers to see. Yet and still you show us soooo much UN-appreciation. WOW! REALLY

Mr. Garrett, for the record: The message about the mixer was sent out to all members. Some members already got it twice because i sent to my friends and also my following on Facebook and Twitter. People will attend the mixer if they so desire. Spamming the members about the mixer and you attacking us on the HAN site is not gonna increase the number of patrons to attend the mixer. It only spews out negativity and hatred. I have learned that most people will avoid those at all cost.

I don't think I put you in charge to tell me what to do and how it should be done! Members are allowed to set up mixers, gain Fans, Handout with Hawaii's Film Industry and much more at there own FREE will! Again It's a Social Network and made for Socializing thats all! And all we ask is to be Positive, Be Nice, Be helpful, Be supportive, and Have Fun! Good luck to everyone!

I apologize to the members that have to read all this garbage but I needed to say something. The constant public attacks from Roger Garrett about the faults of HAN is getting to be a bit annoying. I'm just saying!

After spending thousands of dollars (of our own money) and countless of hours building HAN in order to bring our acting community together I just don't think we deserve to be constantly attacked by Mr. Garrett. Hopefully he can find in his heart to see the GOOD in this network. Until then I have to know that no matter what I just can't please everyone.

Let's see if we can clarify this.

You sent out the ORIGINAL announcement, a few weeks back, to the entire membership.

The subsequent message that was sent out TODAY went out, not as a direct email to all members, but as a comment on the HAN Mixer group, ONLY to those members who are in the HAN Mixer Group.

A while back I had messaged you about the need, for ANY event, to have (1) an initial announcement several weeks before the event, (2) a reminder announcment a week before, and (3) a final notice the day before. The second and third messages are not merely to remind those who have already signed up, but to encourage those who had not yet made a decision, and finally to remind everyone just before the event. This has been my experience with the numerous events I have hosted over the years for many different origanizations, and the members generally appreciate the reminders. And it's not just how I host events. This is common practice among numerous social organizations. It's an integral part of having a successful event.

Previouslu, when I had mentioned my desire to have those three separate announcements you seemed to concur. Even as late as last week when I asked you how I could send you the email message that I had prepared and formatted and included pictures in, for sending out to the entire memebrship, you seemed to be prepared to send it out to the whole membership. And then it only went out to the 83 people on the Mixer group.

Response to Roger Garrett

YOUR POST

There are three ways of handling the issue of people not wanting to receive certain messages. 1) You provide an opt-out link on each message. THERE IS AN OPT OUT LINK

2.)You ignore the minority who complain about getting the messages, WE DON'T MAKE A PRACTICE TO IGNORE OUR MEMBERS

3) you stop sending out all-member messages. WE TRY OUR BEST TO SEND OUT BLAST MESSAGES IN MODERATION

WOW! Is this conversation a prelim to whats to be expected as discussed at the mixer?

WELL, COUNT ME OUT!

I still don't understand why you stay on HAN and you go through all the trouble to organize a mixer when you have expressed so much HATE for the moderation of HAN, past mixers we have had and now how we send out messages. Things that make ya go Umm.

I have a quote for that one...

"Generally, people will do whatever they can to avoid pain and gain pleasure." ~ Anthony Robbins

I don't know about everyone else but Teddy Wells is not trying to go to anything that could potentially be a painful experience.

I see now that you can't read or something! Some members don't want the info coming to there email! Please Roger understand, I know its silly but oh well! But everyone got the message in their email! So the members that want to come will be there and may bring friends! Maybe it can be something you can talk about at the mixer!

Everyone got the message! And you are one of the complainers about getting emails that you don't want and reading messages you don't want to read! HAN is a Social Network and is use for social networking and is not like other websites!

So let me be clear, ALL Members got the message even the ones on the other island and the ones that don't live here!

And yes we do send out messages but if you noticed only once!

Everyone got the message, everyone got it! and we still get complaints! But everyone got the info about the mixer!

Are you saying that the Mixer event reminder ONLY went out to the 83 members who are in the HAN Mixer group, and NOT to the entire membership? Did the ORIGINAL announcement about the Mixer go out to everyone?

There have been a LOT of messages that have gone out from HAN to the entire membership over the past yeasr. And now, after the Mixer organizing committee has done all the work to get this thing going, you've decided NOT to send out all-member messages?

There are three ways of handling the issue of people not wanting to receive certain messages. 1) You provide an opt-out link on each message. 2) You ignore the minority who complain about getting the messages, or 3) you stop sending out all-member messages.

Nearly every other website on the Internet provides an opt-out method. But you've chosen to simply stop sending out messages. And right when we've got a Mixer scheduled. Even though just a couple of days ago you were still sending out all-member messages for other announcements.

This just makes no sense.

The past Mixers were all announced to the entire membership, weren't they? Why the change now?

This is not an "oh well" situation. This is not "something to talk about at the Mixer". Annoucements to the entire membership for a membership-wide event is an expected part of a successful event.

I hope you will reconsider and send out the message, to everyone, that I had provided to you on Monday morning.
