Were badges or some other means of identifying the actors from the tourists available at the recent mixer? What kind of turnout was there?

Aloha HAN members and friends of Hawaii’s film industry,

Now is the time for us to revisit our common purpose and truly understand why we are here. Hawaii Actors Network first started as a website for actors that eventually formed into a community and then evolving into a movement for a better and more productive film industry. Over the last three years of building this network we have learned that Hawaii has some of the most talented individuals in the country. We have also found that these islands attract talented creative expressionistic people from all over the world.  The Hawaii Actors Network now has a common purpose and you have decided be a part of it, CONGRATULATIONS, but our job is still not done.

                                         Defining our common purpose

Our common purpose is to showcase to the world these important facts about Hawaii’s promising film industry.  As we all tap into our creative side, Hawaii offers a peaceful and invigorating environment that helps us to create the future of the next level of filming. As HAN continues to build with many film industry leaders joining us, we must continue to focus on and realize that the future of filming has Hawaii’s name all over it and we are in control of how soon it shows up at our doorstep.  Our main goal should be to build the most positive film environment that will attract opportunity for us and our future generations while protecting the art of creative expression for everyone, in other words ‘A film industry with YOU in mind!’. It has been proven for over 40 years that the experience of filming in Hawaii compares to nowhere else. As we comb through the internet and through other film industry websites we have found that many film industry leaders from Hollywood, New York and many other states are looking for a new home and they ALL love Hawaii. We have also learned that there are millions of displaced film industry participants and hopefuls that are also looking for a new home to put together and showcase their works of art. Now we ask ourselves, “how do we reach them to invite them to join us in paradise?”.

Our next film industry mixer at The Modern Hotel should be the place to help showcase just that.

Setting the stage for Hawaii Actors film industry mixers.

Our vision for Hawaii Actors mixers should be a place for productive encounters and where passion meets talent in order to create magic. Our mixer should always send an inviting message to the world to join us in paradise for the best filming experience they could ever hope for. As we grow together we will only get better and at setting the stage for the future of the entertainment business. If we’re not getting better then what are we getting? With this being said I'd like to take this time to invite all HAN members to our upcoming film industry mixer.

With all these film industry participants in one area we can assure that this productive mixer will put us closer to the film industry we all would love to see being created right in our own backyard.

1 key to building Hawaii's film industry.

From Charles Barry How… to The Wells Brothers Sent on Sunday

The Mixer that was held on Thursday the 26th at the Honolulu Club in my opinion was a huge success. Roger Garrett and Dennis Keating were on scene to help with name tags. Shortly after the start time an excellent variety of hot and cold food offerings were set up for the taking. The Club itself had a very nice bar and excellent service for drinks. The price of drinks was very reasonable. All the food and live music was provided by

Mr. John Scoggins. What a great guy to do this for the Mixer Group. I personally had a wonderful time and met a lot of interesting people that are involved with the industry. Just what I was looking for. So, three cheers for Roger, Dennis and especially John for all their effort and dollars for making this Mixer so Successful. I can hardly wait for the next one.

SIDE NOTE: I have nothing but positive feedback for HAN. My personal attitude is that, if you cannot be a GRATEFUL member, then either delete your profile, start your own network (good luck) or just don't say anything. It's rather hypocritical to keep bashing something, yet continue to be a member of that which you are bashing. =)

The mixer was ok. Not many folks that I've known for years from HAN, but I met a few new folks and chatted it Michael. I hope to see both of the Wells Bros. and more familiar faces at the next official HAN Mixer!!!! Thank you, HAN for all that you've for my career. I would't be in AFTRA/SAG if it were not for you. Mahalos.
