Aloha HAN Military actors,

Would you be interested in being interviewed for a book featuring the work of veterans in entertainment? My buddy and fellow actor Justin Sloan (former marine) is in the process of writing his next book on veterans in entertainment as a follow up to his forthcoming release on writing scripts for video games, television, and film. Anyway, his email is

Wishing you an early Veteran's Day holiday.

This is the official release on what the new TV/Theatrical agreement means for Background actors:

"Additional covered background actor positions in the Western Zones in TV and Theatrical beginning in year two of the contract by excluding more stand-ins from the count. Two additional stand-ins will be excluded from the count in television in the second year and one stand-in will be excluded from the count in theatrical productions"

How many - 1 or 2 additional ?? Currently it's 57 union background on films in Hawaii, but it's 80 + stand-ins in the New York Zone. That's leaves at least 23 less union background actors in Hawaii.
No mention of additional background zones added, which is a primary concern for background actors on the mainland.
If no new zones added and not enough additional union background, then I strongly suggest a NO vote by all background actors.
A NO vote just sends them back to the bargaining table. It does not mean a strike. So VOTE NO and let's get a better deal.

There's a new national group gaining traction for performers, crew, and other creative types who are veterans, and active duty only. Last month Stan Lee attended their monthly meeting. One of my Wounded Warrior connections, Mike Dowling (Google him if you're skeptical) hooked me up.

The game is simple: "Let's Ask America" polls America about fun and irreverent topics to find out what people are thinking. Then, all the contestants have to do is correctly predict the answer. The prize money increases with each question, with the potential to take home $50,000 without even getting out of your chair!

Every day, four contestants will be chosen to play the game and win cash (up to $50,000) via web-chat from their home!

One of my buddy's and her husband got a call back for a shoot on the first. She went to the special military family casting event this past Saturday. Something out there is moving!

I can't express how grateful I am to be on the set with great people. The entire crew since season 1 has been so nice and friendly. They work such long hours but their patience is their perseverance. I am truly blessed.
