Denzel Washington Wins First-Ever SAG Award for ‘Fences’ (Video)

Legendary actor Denzel Washington caught a huge break at the SAG Awards. The Oscar and Emmy award winner finally scored his first Screen Actors Guild victory for his leading role in the film adaptation of Fences. Washington won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture at the 2017 SAG Awards on Sunday. what are documents and data on iphone Nominated three times before for his roles in The Hurricane, Training Day, and Flight, the actor had previously lost out to Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, and Daniel Day-Lewis. “You know, I am a God-fearing man. Oscar Nominations 2017: Denzel Washington, Mahershala Ali, Ruth Negga, Octavia Spencer, More

The nominations for the 89th Academy Award nominations are officially in, and unlike previous years, the list contains a handful of black nominees. “Moonlight” scored eight nominations, including Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Supporting Actress (Naomie Harris). “Fences” scored four nominations in total, with Denzel Washington being nominated for Best Actor and Viola Davis scoring Best Supporting actress. Ruth Negga was nominated for Best Actress in Drama for her role in “Loving,” while Octavia Spencer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the box office hit “Hidden Figures.” Harris, Spencer, and Davis made history with their nominations, marking the first time three black actresses have been nominated together in an acting category. The 89th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 26 at 8:30 p.m. EST.

Calling All African American Males Aged 8-17 for a Full Length Indie Film

Poke & Poi production company is looking for African American actors/extras aged 8-17 for their full length Independent film. Actors of African descent are encouraged to apply.

The film will be entered into various film festivals such as HIFF and others around the nation. There is no compensation, however you will have an opportunity to work with award winning directors and gain more experience in the film industry. The money raised from the film will go towards charities that help to rescue and restore those who have been victims of being Child Soldiers in Uganda. 

Filming starts in early July so please send in head shots ASAP to and we will schedule an audition time.

TWELVE AFRICAN MALES - Ranging from 17 - 30's  (MUST BE SLIM  - could pass for warriors - see attached photo for reference)


AUDITIONS:      will be held tomorrow, Friday 5/20 ( 11 - 5) and Saturday 5/21 (12 - 5)

CALLBACKS:     with director Monday, 5/23 (time tbd)

AVAILABILITY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This is a non-union job.  Actors must be available June 8 - 10 for one day of filming with possible wardrobe fitting on Monday, June 6.

FEE:  $600/10   (FYI - Background Artists will be hired at $300/10)
