In October I will be teaching a course to physicians on the Big Island at a Neuro Critical Care National Meeting. I am trying to hire two actors to act as “patients” in order to help teach communication to the participants. The event is about 3 hours with about 3 hours of prep time as well. We are able to pay an hourly rate for actors. The event with be at the Waikaloa Marriot. Please contact me at jessica.mcfarlin@uky.edu for more information.

‘TASTE OF THE MOVIES’
Ten Chefs Help Celebrate Ten Years of Big Island Film Festival Action
For immediate release
KOHALA COAST, HAWAI‘I—Big Island Film Festival at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawai‘i (BIFF), announces the chef-movie lineup for its fun new foodie event, “Taste of the Movies,” taking place Friday, May 22, 2015 at The Shops at Mauna Lani, 5-7 p.m. For BIFF’s tenth anniversary, ten of the island’s top chefs will present creative takes on movie themes in an open-air “dine-around” to kick off support for the next decade of BIFF.
Tickets include food tastings, beverage tastings from Kona Brewing Company, Pau Maui Vodka, Hanaiali’i Merlot and others, plus a ticket to Friday evening’s double feature at The Fairmont Orchid Hawai‘i Plantation Estate (near tennis courts), with complimentary parking.
Slated to star in “Taste of the Movies” are:
“We started talking about ‘Taste of the Movies’ last year,” said Executive Director Leo Sears. “Working with Chef David Paul Johnson at Outrageous Food & Events, we were all inspired by how many great movies feature food in some way. It’s a terrific fit, the chefs are excited, and I think the audience is going to be really happy with the experience of ‘Taste.’”
Tickets to “Taste of the Movies” are $75 per person, available by calling 883-0394 in advance. Space is limited and online sales are not available.
“What people might not realize, is that our filmmakers and celebrities attend these events and love interacting with the people who live here. It’s part of the total package of BIFF,” said Sears. “Amy Hanaiali’i will be pouring her wine, and we have Will Estes who plays Tom Selleck’s son on ‘Blue Bloods’ coming in for the festival, and Arielle Kebbel of ‘Vampire Diaries.’ You never know who you’re standing next to at BIFF events like this one.”
The “talk story” film festival, BIFF is a celebration of films and filmmaking at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawai‘i and The Shops at Mauna Lani, May 21-25. The five-day schedule includes free family films at The Shops at Mauna Lani, daytime movies and nightly double features with no-host bar and pupus at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawai‘i—in addition to celebrity social events, workshops and more. Closing night Best of the Fest features The Rough Riders in concert: Henry Kapono, John Cruz and Brother Noland—all three BIFF alumni. Best of the Fest includes a silent auction for Fisher House at Tripler Army Medical Center, and a portion of each ticket sold goes to Hawaii Island Food Basket.
Major sponsors include The Fairmont Orchid, Hawai‘i and The Shops at Mauna Lani and Hawai‘i Tourism Authority/Hawai‘i County CPEP. For complete schedule information and tickets, visit www.BigIslandFilmFestival.com.
