Well as I said Craigslist is usually a last resort should not any suitable talent be found from the local talent agencies or acting coaches as open calls for this type of production are usually not done to minimize an influx of unqualified people or talent that do not match the needs of the client getting into the auditioning pool, a sorting method if you will.  Agencies are usually contacted first as there is already a working relationship and leave it up to the agent(s) to help them find talent that closely meets their needs and who are easy to work with.  Even non principal roles, there are people who still have no sense of set etiquette and do things that hinder production (unqualified talent).

The original email contained information that was not meant to be shared openly, but distributed selectively to talent. (Hence the notation at the end I stated earlier)  How did the information get out? Information leaks do happen, whether it be mistakenly or intentional.  It happens.  The system isn't perfect.

All in all, good luck to all that auditioned.  Aloha.

Actually, the Anthology call that was on craigslist a while back that I auditioned for (and got) was for an American Savings Bank commercial that needed a lot of extras.  So they sent the call out to agencies as well as on craigslist at the same time (I know because when I signed in, some came from agencies and some from craigslist).

For this HEMIC one, it's odd that they don't specify that the call is only for acting teachers and agencies...??  Then whomever posted it on HAN would know NOT to re-post it.....

And, what's even more quirky is that after our discussion below about not being able to access the script, I got an e-mail from HAN with a link to the script!

Definitely getting mixed messages, here....;/

Aloha,

Watching this thread is very entertaining. Joseph is accurate, the casting for roles info was given to acting teachers, coaches & agents looking for principle talent.

Maybe they did not want the sides on HAN.

What really sucks is that it was not a union job!

Sorry proud SAG-AFTRA member.

I say this because in my experience with Anthology, they rarely do any open calls as to prevent just "anybody" from walking in.  Auditions are usually held a day.  You can imagine if anybody just auditioned how much trouble it would be for the team to sort through talent.  Craiglist is usually done after the initial call should not they not  find the necessary talent.  And as for HAN posting it, mistakes and miscommunication usually happens. So it could be either.  Remember, I think the common misconception on HAN is that people think that it is a talent agency where work is brought in directly from HAN. Most casting calls here are from a third party,  but really it's more of actors to network

I have the original source email, not from HAN, but my acting coach. That's how I know. I got an email from my coach and my agency.  To answer your last question, I simply told by the casting team that I was number 103 when I auditioned and when I looked at the time, it was...wait for it, 4:20pm ;)

Comment by Jackie M. Young on January 14, 2016 at 10:23am

That statement at the bottom of e-mails is pro forma; lots of e-mails have that, simply to say if you got the e-mail by mistake, to ignore it or delete it.

But in their original call, Anthology did seem to want to place an open call:  "...we want to cast as wide a net as possible to find the best available performer."

And then why was it posted to HAN (if it were closed)?

And I have gone for open calls before for Anthology when they've advertised through....wait for it....craigslist!! ;)

So it seems like they _intended_ to have an open call, but perhaps didn't realize how many responses they'd get.....??

Joseph, how were you able to find out how many auditioned (i.e., are you an agent or acting coach)....?

I just read over the scripts for the HEMIC advertisements and I think they need to give a second thought to the joke about the rooster service animal. That will NOT go over well with people with disabilities.

Comment by Joseph Agudo on January 13, 2016 at 8:15pm

Digging through my emails and reading through the original email from Anthology, it seems that this was not an open call and information only be sent to agencies or coaches As the email stated:

"This message is for the designated recipients only and may contain  confidential or proprietary information".

There were many people sent in via agents and acting coaches today. I counted 103 who auditioned.  This was at 4:20pm with many more waiting to be seen.  Nothing is a waste of time. :)  That's just the nature of the business. I've had auditions where there were only 5-10 actors auditioning, you guessed it, no word from the director, so you can imagine what Neil and his team went through going over all the people sent in by their agencies or acting coaches, not to mention all the walk-ins talent.

Good luck to you all. Aloha.

Nancy is right the scripts are not important to those of us applying for workers or extras positions. I don't agree that it was a waste of time for those parts. Hopefully, many of us will get a later call just before filming for extras.

Comment by Nancy Depicolzuane on January 13, 2016 at 7:38pm
Hi all, I emailed twice. as well, w/no response. Things is, his post states they are also looking for "workers" & "extras", not just principals, so, some of the info. re: scripts, etc. wouldn't apply. But, there is no response about those parts, either. Oh well, gguess that was a waste of time. Moving on... By the way, best wishes to everyone & happy new year! :)
