Deep Tiki

Deep Tiki, directed by Cameron Crowe and starring Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone, is shooting scenes in Hawai'i from September 23 through December 9.

The working title is "The Untitled Hawaii Project". However, the movie has been in the planning stages for years and has often been referred to as "Deep Tiki" in the press. The original script for this movie was also titled "Deep Tiki".

A military contractor (played by Bradley Cooper) is sent to Hawai'i to prepare a secret satellite launch. He tries to gain permission from the island’s Kahunas, who believe an ancient prophecy is about to come true. His preparation includes working closely with an uptight military liaison.

Thanks for posting that video, Jerald!  I couldn't open it via another site, but can from what you posted--odd....;/

I'm sure you've all heard the controversy about the film's title--Aloha--from Native Hawaiians and others concerned about native culture.  I agree with them--I had the same reaction when I heard that would be the title--because "aloha" can mean so many different things in Hawaiian, and it really should only be used when you have true feelings for the other person, and not just casually (of course, not many people know that).

Wonder if Crowe had really researched the meaning of the word, or just pulled it out as something "convenient"/"recognizable"....??

Looks like he had done some research on that historical/archival footage, so why not the language....??

Oh well......;/

Anyone know if our scene as Japanese tourists at Waioli Tea Room stayed in....?? ;)

I went to the Aloha movie this mourning. Interesting that they edited out the whole 2-days shooting of the scenes with Alec Baldwin where he does his platform speech. All of that was not in.
