Last Resort

A one-hour pilot for a drama about the fugitive crew of a nuclear submarine will be shot in Hawaii for ABC, the network announced Friday.

“Last Resort,” written by Karl Gajdusek and Shawn Ryan, will be produced by Sony Studios, which confirmed the location. Ryan will also serve as the executive producer. Neither the cast nor a start date have been set, according to a Sony spokesperson.

ABC described the pilot as an “international action thriller/soap” about a world being held hostage by the crew of a ballistic missile submarine. Martin Campbell, who directed “Casino Royale” in 2006 and last summer’s “Green Lantern,” will direct the pilot, Sony said.

There are no guarantees that the pilot will end up on television; many pilots go unseen. But if it did, it would be the latest of a string of ABC shows to use Hawaii: “Lost,” which ran from 2004-2010, “Off the Map,” which ran for a single season last year, and a new series that will debut next month called “The River.”

Ryan was the creator of the dark FX police drama “The Shield.”

ABC freshman Last Resort took second place in viewers and young adults, finishing well ahead of Fox’s MLB National League Championship and continued to dominate NBC’s comedies (30 Rock/Up All Night). The biggest percentage gainer via DVR playback for any 8pm show, ABC’s Last Resort shot up by 2.7 million viewers and by 46% (+1.0 rating) in Adults 18-49 from the next-day L+SD numbers to the final L+7 numbers.

  • · Last Resort was up over the prior week by 6% in Total Viewers, by 6% in Adults 18-49 and by 20% in Adults 18-34.

  • · Improving the hour year to year for ABC for its 4th straight telecast, on average Last Resort is boosting its time period by double digits in Total Viewers (+14%) and Adults 18-49 (+27%) over the same point last season with original drama programming.

I am glad you bought that up. That is not all that is going on. I am VERY mad, angry that all the networks are doing adds  DURING each show, like Five-0 and Xfactor and others where they show a 3-inch reminder (during the show) of what is coming up next. They did it with the Voice, and because of it, I don't watch the Voice and others that flash on. Each one that pups up during a show I am watching, I will not be watching. You see it every time they come back from commercials and during the show it comes up again totally ruining the shows, I wonder if it happened during the premier of Five-0 on the beach. And like you said, they put good shows back to back, that is why, I have 3-TVvcrs.
