@David: I would recommend going to the "Contact Us" pages on the aforementioned websites and ask them what their policy is for submitting unsolicited scripts.  Both MVT and DHT have set their season for next year, but I don't know about other theaters. I imagine your best strategy will be to find a company whose aesthetic and focus seems in line with your script and start becoming a regular there. A good writer is always a valuable find for any theater! Kumu Kahua's mission statement has a local focus so if your play deals with distinctly local themes or stories, then that would be my first stop. Otherwise, I'd suggest you check out TAG, as well as the university theaters (UH, HPU, Windward, Leeward... am I missing any?). Good luck!

My pleasure! There are a bunch of auditions coming up: Tony n Tina at MVT, Delicate Balance at TAG, Altar Boyz at DHT, & Hawaii Shakespeare Festival among them. I haven't had an audition here yet that required a monologue (though some companies may) so it seems to be mostly cold reads. Get familiar with the play before your audition... it makes a huge difference!

Fa'afetai (Mahalo) Kevin for this input, exactly what I was hoping for...   a real lifesaver, as a rookie to the acting scene, this is what I'm doing as a part of my recovery and to meet more people in the community... Much thanks again...

Thanks for that Kevin...I'm new to Oahu as of last month - from New York - and am looking to get involved with local theatres also.  Met the lovely folks from Hawaii Rep Theatre upon landing, thanks to this site. Much appreciated!
