Congratulations! That's fabulous news! The steps you're taking to follow your dream are right on! I can see a bright shining star rising! The classes I took were at HB Studios on Bank Street in the village. They have many awesome instructions. I took classes with Jeanne Kaplan and others. Jeanne is awesome. I'm not sure if she teaches students under 18. HB follows Uta Hagan and Bergoff methodologies. I think you may be able to purchase a training dvd on their website. Many famous actors studied there including Whoppie Goldberg, Al Pacino, Candice Bergen, and more.
Looking down the road, if you are considering going to a college for performing arts, NYU has a fabulous program. Julliard and the Manhattan School of Music, are considered the gold standard for music.
All the best to you, please feel free to keep me posted or let me know if there's anything else I can do. Mary Ann
Thank you for the friend request Elyssa. Sorry it took so long to respond, I just noticed it today.
By the way, I was in New York recently and took a few trial classes. I inquired about classes for younger students and learned that they do offer classes for people your age. The classes are incredible. They do a very thorough job of teaching the core. I loved it. Are you planning on going there soon? If so, you can take trial classes even if you're there for a visit. They cost between $15-$20 per class.
It was hard to notice the classes for younger students on line. It's better to ask them to mail the catalogue.
