Aloha Xiala,

I am a film student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and am looking for a make-up artist to help with a short film titled "Relay for Love" for a class project. I saw your page on Hawaii Actor's Network and wanted to inquire if you might be interested. Since this is a student film, help would be voluntary, but you would receive film credit and a copy of the film for their portfolio. We are looking to film this weekend and next weekend, and if you are interested and available, please let me know.

Mahalo,
Christy

There are a lot of plays going on in downtown Honolulu. I'm not in a lot of plays though I would love to...but I have to get a job. There's a cool theatre on Merchant St. called Kumu Kahua Theatre- they're doing "Maui the Demigod" right now. They only perform work written by local playwrights which is awesome. There's always stuff at the ARTS at Marks Garage as well, and there's cool plays that aren't done that often at TAG Theatre. I think you would like Laughtrack Theatre if you're looking for Improvisational Theatre (it's hilarious). They always have stuff going on. There's a new theatre company called All the World's a Stage Theatre company and they just finished a show at the ARTS at Marks Garage, but I know they'll be doing another soon b/c they only rehearse for about two weeks before performing (which is crazy). In the summer there will be three plays done at the ARTS at Marks Garage- those plays will be a part of the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival. Oh and Mid-Pacific Institute does some pretty good plays too! We do three high school productions and one middle school production, so you should go to those. Mid-Pacific Institute also has a fall and spring dance concert every year performed at Paliku theatre at WCC. The dancing is amazing!

OooOh! You're a makeup artist! Well if you're ever interested in doing makeup for student films I can have you meet some student filmmakers who would probably love to have you! Are you interested in costume design or technical theatre based stuff? I hope we get to work together too!
That's cool that you're named after your mum's friend.

Cheers!
